Who are you? Tell us everything!
👋 My name is Abeba Ngwe but please, call me Abi! I’m 33 years old and I live in Paris.
In 2013, I graduated with a Master’s Degree in Marketing from Rouen’s Neoma Business School. Then, I started working in marketing at Microsoft. It was my first professional contact with new technologies, which I have always been passionate about. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy marketing missions so much. So I left for Mexico, and got disappointed by my job again. That’s when I decided to leave for a 2-years cultural and identity trip through Africa.
When I got back, I worked as a freelance translator in technical projects, until I figured out I needed a job that showed more respect to the people and their expertise. That’s when I came across an e-mail from Pôle Emploi about retraining in tech.
After some research, I attended a 5-month training with O’Clock in 2019. After some experiences as a Developer, I have been working as a Confirmed Front-End Developer at Leboncoin since January 2023. 🥳
Outside of work, I love traveling, which I had the opportunity to do a lot! My other life-long passions are lyrical chant, reading and wellness sport.
How did you meet The Allyance?
👀 After some time working at Mes Aides Publiques, I wanted to join a bigger company and work on React again. That’s why I contacted Shirley Almosni Chiche on Twitter to get help.
As Shirley was not available at that time, she recommended Caroline, who I already knew from LinkedIn. She then redirected me to Morgane who reached out and worked with me!
How did The Allyance help you?
🔥 I met Morgane in July 2022. We started with identifying my profile, the type of dev I am, what I was looking for and what The Allyance had to offer. We worked together on how she would introduce me to recruiters.
Never have I been asked such precise questions. Morgane made sure to understand everything about my professional background and expectations by rephrasing everything I shared with her. I could see that she was all about representing my interests in a careful and professional way.
Then, Morgane suggested a few offers and we started two recruitment processes. Unfortunately, none of them worked out in the end, notably because of the current layoff dynamics in the tech sector. 😔
After that, Morgane remained available and suggested other options that I studied thoroughly. When I saw Leboncoin, I immediately thought it was the right fit for me, mostly because of their reputation of technical excellence. Although the process was very demanding, on the HR and technical level, I ended up having amazing contacts with them and got hired!
What do you like about being a Developer ?
💙 I like the tangible aspect of it, the fact that the results of my job are instantly visible. This makes my job quite valuable, as I always have to keep in mind that my code has to be truly useful to final users.
I won’t lie, although everything’s changing fast, it’s quite comfortable to work in a sector facing such shortages. That also means financial benefits and constant challenge, which I truly appreciate!
Also, I love the strength of Developers’ professional communities and how we lean on each other to expand our knowledge and methods.
How do you keep yourself up to date with dev topics and methodologies?
⚙️ Well, first, I use Google Chrome’s daily.dev extension, which provides a feed of developers’ news.
I also stay tuned by following fellow developers on social media, such as Helvira Goma, Nicolas Brondin-Bernard, Michaël Azerhad, Amélie Abdallah and Pierre Criulanscy.
Besides, I carefully read newsletters, my favorites being Women on Rails by Juliette Audema and Camille Regnault.
Apart from your day-to-day job, what do you do?
Since May 2021, I have a Youtube channel called Alors on Dev. There, I mainly share technical tutorials and testimonies from developers.
🫂 I like how valuable these videos can be for other people, but also for me! It keeps me posted on what’s going on in the dev world and allows me to build and grow my community.
Name a person you admire. Tell us why you admire that person!
🎤 It’s obvious: Tina Turner! She’s the epitome of talent, work, resilience and courage. I’ve got chills just mentioning her name!
She’s a constant inspiration for me. You could even say she’s guiding me through life.
Would you recommend other engineers to work with The Allyance?
🙌 Of course! They really show interest in you in order to build your profile, and not many experts in recruitment can do that.
Morgane, Caroline and Monica are truly approachable and make time for the people they work with. And last but not least, they know how to handle tears and fears, which is crucial in this sector.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: ✒️ Léa C, The Allyance Contributor:
“I joined The Allyance after Caroline and I met at a ionnalee’s concert! I am a freelance translator and content writer (French, English, Spanish and German). I also work as an administrative employee in the health and data science sector. So, I am not far from Caroline’s core topic! I am very active as a volunteer in social and environmental NGOs, where I always try to put intersectionality at the center of actions because I am convinced that every cause is linked to one another. It is readily apparent that Caroline and I share a lot of common interests, which is why we as friends decided to work together!”
